Financial advice options

When it comes to financial advice, the First Super team debunk all the myths. We make financial advice accessible for everyone, and most importantly, more affordable than you think.

We’ve helped hundreds of members all over Australia. In fact, the majority of members who received personal advice did not have to pay anything extra –the costs were already covered by their annual First Super membership fee.

Types of financial advice

No matter what you need, we have a solution.

General Financial Advice*

This service is provided by our Local Coordinators and our Member Services contact centre.

They can help you with general queries about your First Super account and help you understand super’s rules and regulations.

This advice does not consider your personal and financial circumstances.

General advice can help you with:

  • Understanding super
  • Ways to grow your super
  • Understanding investment options and your investment choice
  • Using super when you transition to retirement and in retirement
  • Complete paperwork, set up your firstonline account, nominate beneficiaries
  • Transfer your KiwiSaver to First Super and answer any questions you have on KiwiSaver Transfers
  • Using your Super and KiwiSaver to purchase your first home in Australia through First Home Super Saver scheme

Contact your Local coordinator or our Member Services team on 1300 360 988.

Limited Personal Advice services include:

  • Super Health check – for any age. We can include your spouse / partner even if their super is elsewhere
  • Retirement Health check – for those close to and in retirement. We can include your spouse / partner even if their super is elsewhere
  • Help you with your investment choice
  • The most effective way to make extra contributions to grow your super
  • Level of insurance cover
  • Help you understand the general rules and eligibility requirements for the Age Pension
  • Downsizer and how it will affect Age pension payments and minimum payment withdrawals

Book a meeting with a financial planner

Many members receive most of the information they need from a Super or Retirement Health check. We recommend doing this first. You can then decide whether you need comprehensive advice.

*There is no extra cost to you, it’s all part of your membership with us.

Comprehensive Advice

Paid service fee: $2,300

Comprehensive advice, offers more detailed personalised financial advice and is a paid service. We can help you with advice that covers topics beyond your First Super account for you and your spouse / partner.

Comprehensive advice include all of the above services and:

  • Compare super funds with First Super and recommend other superannuation funds if they are better suited to your preferences and needs.
  • Maximise your Age Pension benefits (including moving funds to a partner’s super)
  • Tailor your insurance needs outside of super
  • Investing outside of super
  • Annuities

Your first meeting is at no extra cost to you. After your meeting you can decide whether to go ahead with comprehensive advice.

Our financial planners receive no commissions or any other financial incentives for recommending other products and services.
